Cape Town Sevens 2019 final: Blitzboks vs New Zealand – live score and kick off time
Additional reporting by SA Rugby / Wires / Agencies.
The Blitzboks secured their spot in the finals of the 2019 Cape Town Sevens with a come-from-behind win over France in the semi-finals. South Africa will face New Zealand in a repeat of the final in Dubai. Kick off is at 18:56 (SAST).
As has been the case for much of the weekend, Les Blues put in a brutal shift against the hosts.
South Africa made it hard for themselves early on, conceding four first-half penalties again, which meant their defence was properly tested.
Dylan Sage admitted after the match that the first half has been a problem for the team at the tournament so far. He added that it might just be a “mental switch” that the team needs to flick.
South Africa haven’t made the final of the Cape Town Sevens since the 2016-17 season, where they lost against England. They’ve only won the CT Sevens once – when it first moved to the Mother City back in 2015.
New Zealand romped to a 24-7 win over Fiji in the other semi-final. The All Blacks were held scoreless in the Dubai final against South Africa last weekend.
