Fire rips through famous Cape Town pub
One of the most beloved pubs in the Mother City – famous for its sports coverage and quiz nights – is a historical venue that attracts tourists and locals alike. Thankfully, it seems that all hasn’t been lost to the inferno. A source at the scene has confirmed the pub has been salavged, although its beer garden has been destroyed.
The pub confirmed via their Twitter account that they are closed for the rest of Thursday, and promised to give daily updates on the situation. No cause for the blaze has yet been established, but an investigation is already underway. It’s bad news for the staff and the owners, who would’ve been hoping to make the most of a bumper festive season.

Established in 1864, the Fireman’s Arms has undergone a few renovatons over the years, yet it manages to keep its 19th-century aesthetic intact, even with all the mod-cons that surround it. We have contacted the venue about the safety of their workers and cats, and we understand no-one has been injured.
