Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow (Level 2) for strong damaging, in average of 60km/h, expected over the eastern part of the Northern Cape, as well as the central and western Free State; which could lead to power and communication interruptions, loose debris blown around and localized damage to informal settlements.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in the extreme western parts of North-West Province, central and western parts of Northern Cape, north-eastern parts of Western Cape and the Eastern Cape interior.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Mostly fine and cool, but warm in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy along the escarpment in the morning with fog patches, otherwise fine and cool but warm in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east in the morning with fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise fine and cool to warm.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the west.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers over the central and the western part where it will be windy.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Hot in the north, otherwise fine, windy and warm becoming partly cloudy in the southeast with isolated thundershowers in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southeasterly becoming fresh northwesterly from the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy in the extreme west, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot over the eastern interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to northwesterly but strong in the south-west by the afternoon. It will become fresh to strong westerly to southwesterly along the south coast by the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Fine and hot.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light northeasterly becoming fresh to strong southwesterly towards the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Fine and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms from late afternoon.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northeasterly becoming fresh to strong south westerly from late
afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior otherwise fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh northerly to northeasterly, becoming strong in places towards afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
