Stuart Baxter confirms Keagan Dolly could start for Kaizer Chiefs TODAY!

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says Keagan Dolly is close to making his first start for Amakhosi.

The 28-year-old former Montpellier attacker joined the Glamour Boys ahead of this season having last played in Mzansi for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2017.

Keagan Dolly made an immediate impact in Kaizer Chiefs’ MTN8 quarter-final penalty shootout defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns with an assist after coming off the bench.

As Kaizer Chiefs prepare to face Baroka FC in their second DStv Premiership match of the season on Wednesday, 25 August, Baxter confirmed that Dolly’s fitness was improving quickly.

“Very close, I would say very close,” Baxter said according to Kickoff.

“When Keagan signed, he’d had a long period of inactivity so both his sharpness and his touch and his endurance was lacking.

“He’s worked really hard, he’s a great lad to have around the place and when he’s got on – he’s gone on in both of our games and in a friendly against SuperSport [United] – he’s done really well with the time he’s had on the pitch.

“Now, you can understand that the temptation for me is to throw him in, but I think we’d then be looking at a hamstring injury or a soft tissue injury if we do that, so I’m battling a little bit with myself not to throw him in too soon.”

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium is at 17:00.
