Ruzaigh Gamildien’s Kaizer Chiefs move still ON! Contract terms revealed!

Swallows FC striker Ruzaigh Gamildien is still set to join Kaizer Chiefs despite recent widespread rumours that the deal had fallen through.

Gamildien had emerged as one of Chiefs’ earliest transfer targets, during the recently concluded DStv Premiership season, with his hot scoring streak almost out of nowhere, proving enough to attract that interest of the clubs, now former coach Gavin Hunt.

His 11 goals during the first half of the season also earned the 32-year-old an unlikely recall to the Bafana Bafana squad, his first in seven years. Gamildien even got a chance to add to his caps, featuring from the start in a 1-1 draw at home to the Ghana Black Stars in Bafana Bafana’s failed Afcon qualifying campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs seemed to have signed their man!

Soon after that, reports regarding Gamildien and Chiefs started to shift from “interest” to a “done deal”. With reports going as far as saying Amakhosi had parted with around R2 Million for his services. Those news were met with mixed reactions from the clubs faithful, with many questioning the logic behind the deal and it’s numbers due to the Gamildien’s age.

The Chiefs faithful didn’t seem to be the only ones raising questions, however, as it suddenly emerged that even the club’s management itself, was at loggerheads with Hunt over the signing, with owner Kaizer Motaung Senior reportedly not a fan of Gamildien.

However, in the end Hunt was said to have received the benefit of the doubt with regards to that move, as Motaung Senior reportedly gave the go ahead for club management to seal the deal that would bring Gamildien to Naturena in the following season.

Move thought to have collapsed after Hunt’s sacking

Then in a move that sent shockwaves through the South African football fraternity, Chiefs announced that they had sacked Hunt, a move that was thought to be due to the two parties not seeing eye to eye on a direction going forward, including that of transfers.

Chiefs management seemed to question more and more of Hunt’s ideas for his squad, including the notion of a complete squad overhaul. Motaung Senior had even went on national radio stating that, an overhaul of that nature was simply impossible.

Hunt’s sacking then seemed to throw a spanner in the works of many a reported “done deal” for Chiefs under his tutelage, including that of Gamildien. When Stuart Baxter was announced as the Glamour Boys’ new coach, many expected the transfer wish list to mirror that change too.

One of the changes Baxter was believed to have made on that list, was that of Gamildien. Earlier this week, reports had emerged that Baxter had informed Chiefs management that he was not sold on the forward and asked the club to pull the plug on his reported deal.

However yet another twist has occurred with Gamildien still set to join Amakhosi

However, after reports had stated that wish had been granted by Chiefs management, Kickoff.com sources now claim that Gamildien’s move is in fact, still on! And that he will be joining up with his new teammates as soon they begin pre-season.

“The player is currently in Cape Town, enjoying his holidays. He is only going back to Johannesburg next week Saturday,” says the source.

“It’s not clear when they [Chiefs] are going to unveil their new players, so he is waiting for communication with regards to his expected arrival at Naturena.
