Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 for severe thunderstorms resulting in damaging winds, hail, excessive lightning as well as heavy downpours resulting in localized flooding and localized damages to settlements, infrastructure and vehicles in places over Joe Gqabi LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, eastern parts of Chris Hani, OR Tambo and Alfred Nzo District Municipalities.
  2. Yellow warning for winds leading to difficulty in navigation and capsizing of small vessels including small water crafts in expected offshore at sea between Cape Columbine and Cape Point from late afternoon into the night.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected
    over the northern parts of West-Coast of the
    Western.Cape and the south-western parts of Namakwa
    District and Khai-Ma municipality of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north-east.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the Lowveld and Escarpment areas.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Morning fog patches in the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot but warm over the southern high ground and north-western parts. It will become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east and north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be FRESH TO STRONG southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy over the central and eastern parts in the morning, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot over the northern parts of the
West-Coast District. It will become cloudy along the south-coast and adjacent interior in the evening.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly to north-westerly along the south-coast at first, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to
south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Morning fog in places in the east, otherwise fine and warm, but partly cloudy and cool in places along the coast. It will become cloudy with a slight chance of light rain in places in the south from late afternoon.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south- westerly, becoming light and variable in places at night.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool with morning fog in places south of the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with
scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the south-west.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, but moderate south-westerly in the south from mid-morning, becoming south easterly in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly north of Richards Bay at first, otherwise moderate north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
