Truck blockade: N3 closed in both directions between JHB and Durban

The N3 toll route between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal is blocked due to a massive truck blockade. The authorities are on the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area. Drivers are being diverted to alternative routes.

TRUCK BLOCKADE DISRUPTS TRAFFIC

The N3 Toll Concession reported the truck obstruction as early as 5:07 on Friday, 3 December. The blockade’s epicentre is at the Van Reenen pass and traffic Johannesburg and Durban-bound traffic is has come to a halt.

“N3 Durban Bound and Johannesburg at Van Reenen’s both directions are closed due to a truck blockade. Traffic is being diverted to alternative routes,” said the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The police said attempts to remove the trucks are underway. The motive for the protest has not been disclosed at this stage.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
