Maselesele who was a midfielder-cum-striker at Chiefs is said to have passed away on Friday.

Maselesele was a Chiefs development product

A product of the Chiefs academy, Maselesele was promoted to the first team in 1998. He would then quickly immerse himself with the club supporters, with his attacking and direct style of play almost instantly earning himself the tag of a fan favourite. His high work-rate, skilful nature and pace to burn made him an invaluable member of the Amakhosi first team.

Maselesele was unfortunately forced to leave his beloved Chiefs, with competition against the likes of Jabu Pule (Mahlangu) and Stanton Fredericks proving too much for the player. He would also go on to turn out for the likes of Maritzburg United, Thanda Royal Zulu, FC AK, Black Leopards, Manning Rangers, while also having a stint in Namibia.

Career scandal

Maselelsele found himself in Namibia after admitting to have tested positive for cocaine in 2008. He then struggled to find a team that would take the risk and show faith in him after that, with joining Civics FC.
