Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 1 warning for damaging winds is expected over the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, and the western parts of the Free State and North West Provinces.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape, the interior of the Eastern Cape, the western parts of the Free State and in places of the North West Province.

Temperature and UBV forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very high.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy with morning fog patches in the east, otherwise fine and warm but hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and hot.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine, windy and warm to hot.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine, windy and warm, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot. It will be cloudy and cold to cool along the coast and adjacent interior where isolated showers and rain are expected.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to northwesterly becoming fresh south-westerly from the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm in the north-east, otherwise cloudy, cool and windy with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh westerly to north-westerly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly along the west and south-west coast from late morning spreading along the south coast from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Warm to hot over the northern interior, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers in places from the afternoon.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southwesterly.

The Eastern half Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in places from the afternoon.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly from the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise fine and warm but hot in places in the north, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly
