Baxter reserves special praise for Kaizer Chiefs star!
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter showered star midfielder Keagan Dolly with praise following the Amakhosi’s 2-1 win over Baroka FC on Wednesday evening at the FNB Stadium.
The Glamour Boys earned their first victory of the season and former Mamelodi Sundowns star Keagan Dolly was key for Baxter’s men in attack.
Dolly who has been subject to much criticism for arriving at Kaizer Chiefs unfit and overweight silenced his critics with a man-of-the-match perfomance while also leaving Stuart Baxter highly impressed.
Baxter singles out one Kaizer Chiefs star for praise
“Keagan Dolly went in tonight, did a great job. Fantastic. Really pleased for him,” Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter told SuperSport TV.
“I didn’t think he would last as long as he did. The change when he came out was purely tactical. Because it was going long and I got the centre-back in, Anthony Agay. Some of the lads have been out for a long while, some of the lads who need to know how we play.
“They’ll get there. I still think Kaizer Chiefs have 30 percent on top of what we showed tonight. And certainly we’ve got 30 percent more to improve our attitude in managing the game.”
We should have won 5 – 0! – Baxter
“It’s been a long time since this stadium has seen the attacking play we produced in the first-half. Credit to the players. They did a great job. Their passing and movement was great. I thought we had a little issue with their long-ball game.” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor added.
“Fact is we should have gone in 4 or 5-0. And we didn’t and then when they score, then there’s a panic. And I didn’t like that. I didn’t like the fact that there was a mental looseness about the second half. Yes, we had chances to kill the game but we didn’t.
Last night’s victory means Kaizer Chiefs climb to the top half of the table. They’ve now picked up four points from their opening two matches.
They’ll next be in action after the upcoming international break when they face Mamelodi Sundowns on 12 September 2021!
