Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 2 Warning for WAVES resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea between Cape Agulhas and Richards Bay, subsiding west of Plettenberg Bay in the morning.
  2. Yellow Level 2 Warning for COASTAL WIND resulting in possible localized infrastructure along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Richards Bay.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Nil.

ADVISORIES:

  1. Very cold wet and windy conditions are expected over the southern parts of the Northern Cape and Free State.
  2. Light snow expected over the southern parts of the Northern Cape and Free State.
  3. Cold to very cold conditions expected across the Eastern Cape with possible light snowfall in places over the mountains. The public and small stock farmers are advised to take necessary precautions.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cold to very cold.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Fine, windy and cold but warm to hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Fine and warm but cool over the central and south-western parts.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cold to very cold, becoming fine in the afternoon.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and very cold, but partly cloudy in the morning with isolated light showers and snow in the early morning.

Northern Cape:

East temperature: Cloudy and cold to very cold with isolated showers in the west and south in the early morning. It will become fine from the west in the afternoon. Snowfalls are expected over the southern interior in the early morning.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold to very cold with scattered showers but isolated in the north and eastern parts clearing in the afternoon but persisting into evening along the south-coast. Snowfalls are likely over the mountainous areas into late morning.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong south-westerly becoming moderate to fresh southerly in the afternoon. It will be westerly strong to gale force in the morning along the south-coast becoming fresh south-westerly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Cold in places along the coast, otherwise cloudy and very cold with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the south. Snowfall can be expected over high lying ground.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong to gale westerly at first, becoming fresh south- westerly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Very cold conditions over the northern parts, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain, but partly cloudy in the east. Light snowfalls can be expected over the mountains.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong to gale westerly, becoming strong south-westerly in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Fine and cool, but warm in the east. It will be cold on the Drakensberg. It will become partly cloudy from the south
in the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong north-easterly along the north-coast, otherwise strong to gale force south-west spreading to the north-coast by late afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
