Watch: ‘Zuma must gooooo’ clip makes a return following judgement

Remember the trio of grannies that went viral for their funny singing and dancing, in protest against former president Jacob Zuma? Well, in light of the latest news pertaining to Msholozi, a kind Twitter user decided to bring that hilarious clip back on the timeline.

On Tuesday morning, 29 June 2021, Constitutional Court found Zuma guilty of contempt and ordered him to serve 15 months behind bars. The ruling was in favour of the State Capture Commission, which had approached the highest court in the land, seeking a two-year jail sentence for Zuma, after he refused to take the stand, in defiance of ANOTHER judgement imposed by the very same court.

‘Zuma must go’ video resurfaces on social media

As reactions continue to pour in, mainly from political parties, civil organisations and ordinary South Africans, one wondered how the anti-Zuma grannies would think about him donning orange overalls.

“I hope these ladies are having a wonderful day,” said the Twitter user who reposted the video.

Back in April 2017, the three elderly women: Joan Swanepoel, her sister Jill Hallett and their lifelong friend Debbie Breedt, were dubbed the ‘Zuma must go grannies,’ after they took part in marches that were calling for Jacob Zuma to resign, in the wake of the serious allegations of corruption that were levelled against him. The grannies were out on Beyers Naude in Johannesburg, joining thousands who had taken to the streets.

The original clip was taken by journalist Mamaponya Motsai. The video EXPLODED on social media and led to the #ZumaMustFallChallenge.
