But time heals and the Stormers have moved on from his departure as they prepare to face the Cheetahs at their new Cape Town Stadium home this weekend.
So what has Siya Kolisi been up to since his arrival in KwaZulu-Natal?
Firstly, he got down and dirty at his first Sharks training session (pictures HERE).
Then he caught up with former Springbok team-mate and Sharks legend, Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira at a local chicken shop!

The pair were both members of the victorious Springbok 2019 Rugby World Cup-winning team.
Mtawarira subsequently announced his retirement from the sport having played 117 Tests for the Springboks and 160 Super Rugby matches for the Sharks.
Having spent time in the USA and after getting down to business – actual business – post-rugby, Mtawarira and Siya Kolisi caught up at Afro’s Chicken Shop in Umhlanga.
The “Beast” and Kolisi are not shy in proclaiming their love of chicken, with Mtawarira opting for his “usual” order of the “full chicken”.
When Mtawarira welcomed Kolisi to Durban, he did so with the hashtag #nandosdurbanisnotreadyforus
