Dwayne Johnson leads starry voice cast of ‘DC League of Super-Pets’
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be joined by an all-star ensemble that includes Kevin Hart and Keanu Reeves in the voice cast of DC League of Super–Pets.
Dwayne Johnson to voice Krypto
The 49-year-old actor will voice Krypto the Super-Dog in the animated superhero flick and has confirmed on social media that he will be joined in the movie by regular collaborator Kevin Hart and Keanu Reeves among others.
John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Kate McKinnon, Natasha Lyonne and Diego Luna will also voice characters in the upcoming film.
The Rock posted on Instagram: “Ladies, gents and children of ALL AGES it’s my absolute pleasure to INTRODUCE our star-studded @DCLeagueOfSuperPets cast playing our league of two and four-legged heroes and villains!
Hart – who has become a regular collaborator with Johnson – is playing Ace, Batman’s canine sidekick in the comics. Fans will have to wait and see who the others are playing though as Johnson’s post makes clear, not all of them are animals in the film.
‘DC League of Super-Pets’ set for May 2022 release
Jared Stern is writing and co-directing the film with Sam Levine in the first movie to star as Superman’s canine friend. The project is slated for release in May 2022.
Not much is known about the storyline beyond the rumoured basic concept of Krypto teaming up with a flying cat to battle crime while Superman is on holiday.
As well as voicing the lead character, Johnson – who will also lead the cast of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) flick Black Adam — will produce for his Seven Bucks Productions banner together with partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.
Patricia Hicks and Jared are also producing with John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller serving as executive producers.
It will mark the latest film that Johnson and Hart have collaborated on after flicks such as ‘Central Intelligence’ and the ‘Jumanji’ movies.
