Kaizer Chiefs latest | ‘I want to coach the first team’ – Arthur Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Arthur Zwane has expressed his desire to be the head coach of the club’s the first team in future.

Zwane has been working for the Naturena-based side as a junior coach since retiring from professional football in 2010.

And when Gavin Hunt was appointed head coach in September 2020, the Chiefs management promoted Zwane to the first team to work alongside Dillon Sheppard.

“Yeah, look. It can only be one way. Do I want it (become first team coach in future)? Yes,” said Zwane as per iDiskiTimes.

The Amakhosi legend admitted, though, that he will have to equip himself with knowledge and be ready for when that opportunity to coach Chiefs presents itself.

“If I want it, I’ll always get it but it won’t come easy. I’m gonna have to be ready and work hard and make sure that I can be one of the best,” continued Zwane.  

“It shouldn’t be a case of just going there and making up numbers.

“And as you know, the team has also invested a lot in me, and not only me. There are other up and coming coaches that the team has invested in as well,” said Zwane.

Zwane has been around the world attending coaching courses, and he understands that this is for the benefit of his coaching career.

He was also one of the interim assistant coaches that former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki roped in as part of his technical team.

“And I’ve been overseas attending [coaching courses]. I’ve attended coaching courses, and I’m still going to go there because I want to grow and understand the game better and mix with the right people.

“I want to learn from other people and I’m still learning because I’m a student of the game,” added Zwane.
