Cape Town City vs Highlands Park: Prediction, scores, kick-off time and head-to-head

Jan Olde Riekerink gets his first home game in the dugout since taking over at Cape Town City as they host Highlands Park at Cape Town Stadium.

Vasili Manousakis took temporary charge of the Citizens following Benni McCarthy’s sacking while Olde Riekerink awaited his work permit.

However, the Dutchman presided over City’s 0-0 away draw to Bloemfontein Celtic and will now get a taste of life in charge in the Mother City.

“I have trained so much abroad and it comes down to the fact that you have to win the game. It is not only about playing good football‚” Olde Riekerink said prior to the stalemate in midweek, as quoted by SowetanLIVE.

“I have watched a few [City] matches. They did not play bad‚ but I see opportunities to grow them.

“This [squad] is a combination I think‚ between [young] talent and players who already have the skills.”

Highlands Park also drew in midweek, taking a point off Bidvest Wits in Tembisa. Peter Shalulile’s penalty was cancelled out by Thabang Monare from the spot after a controversial handball decision from referee Victor Gomes.

Kick-off time and prediction

Kick-off time: Saturday 30 November at 18:00

Prediction: These teams are evenly-matched on paper, but Kermit Erasmus is likely to return to the Cape Town City side from a hamstring strain and home advantage usually makes them difficult to beat. Olde Riekerink’s men are backed to win 2-1.
