Former EPL goalkeeper blasts ‘troublemaker’ Bongani Zungu
Former Sheffield United and Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has taken aim at Bafana Bafana international Bongani Zungu.
This comes days after it was confirmed by Amiens manager Oswald Tanchot that Bongani Zungu would return to the French club next season after a disaster loan-spell at Scottish champions Rangers FC.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder joined Steven Gerrard’s Rangers FC on loan until the end of the season from French Ligue 2 outfit Amiens SC with the option of making the deal permanent however things simply didn’t work out.
Not only did Bongani Zungu fail to stamp his authority on the playing field, but his time at Rangers was marred by off-field controversies and a former Premier League goalkeeper has since hit out at the Bafana Bafana star.
Paddy Kenny hits out at Bongani Zungu
“They’ll definitely be glad to see the back of him. He’s a trouble maker, I think.” Paddy Kenny told FootballInsider regarding Bongani Zungu’s exit from the club.
“They have done so well this season under Steven Gerrard with the discipline they’ve got there. After all that happened earlier in the year, it’s best to start afresh, in my opinion.
“He’s not even their player and he’s only on loan. So you may as well send Bongani Zungu back, cut your losses and move on.”

Bongani Zungu made a total of 20 appearances since joining the club however just four have been from the starting lineup. 16 have been cameo performances off the bench.
Zungu will now have to return to Amiens and try to restore his reputation in Europe which in reality earned him a blockbuster move to Steven Gerrard’s side just six months ago while a potential move to LaLiga is now unlikely to happening for the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.
