The Bafana Bafana star was a standard feature for Al Jazira throughout the campaign. Despite missing a few games through injury, when the former Ajax Player of the Season was fit, he was one of the first names on Al Jazira’s team sheet.

Serero made a total of 25 appearances for the champions in his newfound midfield role while registering three assists.

Thulani Serero’s league triumph means the star midfielder has now won four league titles abroad since leaving the Premier Soccer League (PSL) back in 2011.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder won three Eredivisie titles with Ajax Amsterdam between 2011 to 2017 adding to his triumph with Al Jazira this season.

At 31-years of age, the former Ajax Cape Town star still has a number of years of football in him and it won’t be a surprise if a return to Europe is on the cards following a somewhat career-reviving campaign in the Gulf region.
