Social media war or words between ‘Beast’ Mtawarira and England prop escalates

Springbok legend Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira hit out at fellow front-ranker, England’s Ellis Genge, following an incident during last weekend’s Six Nations clash between Ireland and England in Dublin.

Genge was caught on camera appearing to elbow Irish skipper Johnny Sexton repeatedly in the face in the closing stages of Ireland’s famous 32-18 victory.

Unbelievably, none of the referee, TMO nor citing commissioner deemed Genge’s actions worthy of a red card and the resultant citing / ban.

Mtawarira, who played 117 Tests for the Springboks before retiring after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, took to social media to write, “This Ellis Genge dude needs to be dealt with properly”.

Sexton was overhead imploring referee Mathieu Raynal, “Sir, he elbowed me in the face.”

Genge owned up to his actions, saying, “Yeah, I did. I did.”
