New football bans for ex-FIFA bosses Sepp Blatter and Jerome Valcke
Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been handed a new ban of six years and eight months from all football-related activities.
Blatter’s initial ban from football was set to expire in October 2021 but it has been extended after he was found to have violated various ethics codes.
The 85-year-old football administrator has also been fined 1 million Swiss francs the FIFA Ethics Committee.

This means Blatter cannot hold any official position until he’s on the other side of 90 as his latest ban will take effect from October through to 2028.
Former secretary general Jerome Valcke was also handed an identical punishment as Blatter but his current ban only expire in October 2025.
“The investigations into Blatter and Valcke covered various charges, in particular concerning bonus payments in relation to FIFA competitions that were paid to top management officials, various amendments and extensions of employment contracts, as well as reimbursement by FIFA of private legal costs in the case of Mr. Valcke,” reads a FIFA statement.
