Tiger Woods injured in car crash, extracted with Jaws of Life [videos]
Tiger Woods was hospitalised on Tuesday, 23 February 2021, following a car crash in Los Angeles. As reported by TMZ, Woods sustained multiple leg injuries and was in surgery at the time of publishing.
The 45-year-old professional golfer was reportedly visiting Los Angeles for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament in the Pacific Palisades, and to “film something” at the Terranea Resort. Here’s what we know.
Tiger Woods car crash – 23 February
LA Country Sheriff confirmed that officers “responded to a roll-over collision in which Tiger Woods was injured”.
His vehicle was “travelling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard at Blackhorse Road when it crashed”. The vehicle sustained “major damage”. As per the sheriff’s statement:
“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods. Mr Woods was extracted from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics”.
Woods was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Officials confirmed that “a traffic investigation is being conducted by investigators from LASD Lomita Station.

Cause of accident
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, however, a source told TMZ Sports that they “do not believe alcohol was involved but they did not say whether any other substance was possibly involved”.
The collision was reported at Hawthorne Boulevard near Blackhorse Road. According to Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg told Gold Digest that the pro golfer sustained multiple leg injuries.
“He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
