LISTEN: Ramaphosa admits to ‘concealing’ corruption in leaked audio

This is probably as explosive as it gets! President Cyril Ramaphosa has been heard on audio essentially saying he would rather confess to wrongdoing than reveal the names of certain people in the African National Congress (ANC) who wrongfully used state resources and public funds for their political campaigning.

Part of the recording was posted by Insight Factor on its Twitter page on Monday afternoon, 20 December.

SHOCKING: RAMAPHOSA HEARD IN SHOCKING RECORDING

Daily News got its hands on the jaw-dropping recording – it is apparently of an ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting where President Cyril Ramaphosa was responding to allegations that he bought votes during the party’s elective conference, where he emerged victorious against Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

It’s no secret that Ramaphosa’s CR17 campaign funding has been marred by controversy, even before his big win at Nasrec in 2017. His campaign netted millions in donations, but Ramaphosa has been rather secretive about who exactly gave him money.

In the audio, Ramaphosa can be heard saying he would rather have the public know he received money from business people than admitting that their hard-earned taxpayers’ rans were in fact used to advance certain political campaigns.

“We also know as ANC cadres that in some cases state money has been used in some campaigns, we know that we will not talk about it, to the extent comrade Tony, where some comrades even said that, well, let’s investigate all campaigns and not just one,” Ramaphosa said.

He also says in the recording that the narrative that his CR17 campaign generated up to a billion rands and bought votes is far from the truth.

“I even said to the officials that I think it’s enough to focus on one only CR17 and I even said because I don’t want the ANC to be dragged once again, in the mud when those assessments, investigations will reveal that a lot of public money was used, and I said, in this case, I am prepared to fall on the sword so that the CR17 campaign, yes, should be the only one that is looked at, and not the others because the image of the ANC is what I am most concerned about,”
