Treat the family with this easy Chicken Nugget Recipe

Simple recipes with stock pantry ingredients are always a good idea, especially when you are short of time to make a family supper. Here is a little snack that’s easy to make and suitable for young and old.

Bonus: Do the preparation when you have a spare moment, freeze the nuggets and pull out to fry when you need a quick light meal.

I used to order chicken nuggets with every fast-food meal; I would also buy and fry chicken nuggets as a snack all the time. Ever since I started making my own I don’t want to eat any other nuggets.

I make these nuggets every second week or so and my family absolutely loves it! I have passed this recipe to family and friends and they have all enjoyed it.

You also can make your own honey mustard sauce to go with the nuggets, or serve them with another sauce that your family enjoys.

The only chicken nugget recipe you will ever need.

    Ingredients

    • 2 large eggs

    • 1 cup milk

    • 2 cups chicken breasts cut into one inch chunks (one breast cut into half makes about 15/16 nuggets)

    • ¾ cup flour

    • ¾ cup breadcrumbs (or Southern style coating)

    • 2 tablespoons sugar

    • 2 teaspoons salt

    • 1 teaspoon chicken spice

    • 1 teaspoon chilli powder or paprika

    • 6-8cm oil to fry

    Method

    • Use a rolling pin to make the breadcrumbs fine. Alternatively you can use a food processor. If you are using Southern Fry coating you can skip this step.
    • In a bowl beat your eggs with your milk and place your chicken chunks in the bowl. Place this mixture in the fridge for 5-10 minutes.
    • Mix your flour, breadcrumbs, spices, sugar and salt together, remove the mixture from the fridge and cover your nuggets with the flour mixture. Place it on a tray and in the fridge for 5 minutes.
    • While the mixture is in the fridge heat your oil on the stove. It needs to be hot enough so when one piece is dropped in it bubbles but doesn’t burn! Fry it in batches so that they all don’t stick together. Fry the nuggets for about 6-8 minutes. This really depends on the pan you are using and the heat of the stove, you want the chicken pieces to be golden brown. Don’t fry for too long or the chicken will dry out.
    • Have another tray out with a paper towel placed on it to drain the oil from the nuggets.
    • Serve just as is or with chips, veggies and sauce of your choice.
