Grim discovery of dead bodies in bakkie near Strandfontein beach
Law Enforcement officers made a particularly grim discovery in the Western Cape on Tuesday morning when they opened up the back of a bakkie and found three dead bodies inside.
The bodies were found when officers saw a group of suspicious men on the Strandfontein beach – a “popular spot for dumping bodies” – early on Tuesday 31 March and followed them. Once they had approached the men, it transpired that there were sinister plans afoot.
Suspicious men
Law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason said that the men – who were most certainly not following lockdown protocols – were planning on dumping the bodies in the ocean.
“City Law Enforcement Marine Unit officers were patrolling along Lukannon Drive in the Bay View section of Strandfontein when they spotted a suspicious vehicle on the beach directly opposite Nautilus Way.”
“They observed four males walking towards the ocean. They monitored the vehicle and then decided to approach the unknown males.”
“On checking the vehicle they found the bodies of two adult males covered with blankets. Further investigation revealed another body of a male in the bakkie.”
‘Well-known dumping site’
He said that the men were arrested and said that the identities of the bodies are not yet known. Their cause of death is also unclear and The South African has reached out to the South African Police Service (Saps) for more information.
“The four males were immediately arrested. This stretch of coastline is well known for the dumping of bodies. The scene has been handed over to SAPS who will investigate further.”
This is a developing story
