Showmax’s first Original horror film premieres during lockdown
Horror fans, gather ’round. Showmax’s first Original Horror movie, Rage, premieres this week, on the fifth day of our 21-day lockdown.
We’re stuck indoors already; make the most of it by settling in for a scary film, and know that there’s nowhere to run…
Rage: Here’s what you need to know
Rage plot
Rage follows a group of school-leavers who are “dying to party”. They head to a small coastal town to celebrate their freedom; the town looks peaceful but darkness lurks.
It starts off well for the carefree party-goers. Roxy, Sihle, Kyle, Leon, Tamsyn and Neo make the most of their getaway and party on the beach every night.
A local family seems kind enough, and the group learns that the farmhouse used to belong to Hermien and her son Albert. Hermien, presumably in her seventies, also appears to be pregnant.
Strange as that may be, the mother-and-son duo are welcoming – perhaps too welcoming… – and Albert even assists with a plumbing issue at the farmhouse.
During a beach party one night, Sihle wanders off on her own and stumbles upon a disturbing birth ritual. At first, she thought it was just a hallucination, but then their idyllic breakaway turns into a nightmare.
