Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 for disruptive rain, that could result in localized flooding of formal and informal settlements, roads and bridges, especially low-lying areas, is expected
    along the Garden Route, Nelson Mandela Metro, Sundays River Valley, Ndlambe, Ngqushwa Local Municipalities, buffalo city metro AND THE COAST OF great kei local Municipality in the morning.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extreme high fire danger conditions are expected over Mahikeng and Ratlou local municipalities of the North- West Province.

  1. Nil.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool with morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east with morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise fine and cool to warm, but hot in places in the Western Bushveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and warm but cool along the Vaal river.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the far east and along Lesotho border.

Northern Cape:

East temperature: Cloudy and cold over the southern high-ground with light rain otherwise cloudy and cool.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool but cold over the central parts, with isolated afternoon showers expected over the Cape Winelands.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable, otherwise moderate south-easterly touching fresh along the west coast.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Cloudy and cool, becoming partly cloudy.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly, becoming moderate easterly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and cold with showers south of the escarpment.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be light westerly, becoming moderate easterly in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the western interior, otherwise cloudy and cold but cool in the east with isolated shower and rain in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly, becoming easterly to north-easterly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
