Currie Cup updated standings: Here’s the latest log!

The 2021 Currie Cup has flown under the radar since it kicked off, but if you weren’t aware, the majority of teams in the Premier Division have already played 10 – or even 11 – of their 12 round-robin matches.

Such has been the impact Covid-19 and the recent focus on the British & Irish Lions tour that the country’s premier domestic tournament has gone largely unnoticed this season.

Nevertheless, if you do still care about the Currie Cup, here’s the latest log!

The Bulls find themselves at the top of the standings and are ahead of their closest challengers, the Sharks, by nine points, albeit having played one more match.

The Lions have been woeful this season and find themselves rock-bottom in the standings and out of playoff contention.

The next round of matches will take place this weekend when the Pumas welcome the Cheetahs to the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit (Saturday, 21 August at 11:45), while the Lions and Sharks clash at Ellis Park in Johannesburg (14:10). Sunday’s lone match will see Griquas host Western Province in Kimberley at 13:30.
