Kaizer Chiefs are looking SCARY warns ex Orlando Pirates star!

Kaizer Chiefs are going to be a different beast this season according to former Orlando Pirates star Joseph Makhanya.

The Amakhosi suffered a rather disappointing 2020/2021 domestic campaign however their exploits in the CAF Champions League lifted them to an unprecedented end to the season.

South Africa got a taste of Stuart Baxter’s newlook Kaizer Chiefs side during their Carling Black Label Cup triumph against arch rivals Orlando Pirates two weeks ago and Joseph Makhanya is adamant the Glamour Boys will be difficult to deal with this season.

“It was a game I thought Orlando Pirates will have the edge because of experience, but you look at Kaizer Chiefs’ youngsters, they stood their ground. They were very competitive against a tried and tested Buccaneers,” Joseph Makhanya told SoccerLaduma.

“I also think the future looks bright. The way Chiefs played it, makes you scared if you saw the likes of Kgaogelo Sekgota and Sabelo Radebe, while they still have the likes of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly. It is going to be a different Kaizer Chiefs side and an exciting one.

“There’s still have Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Njabulo Blom. I think the upcoming season will be very good for them, they are promising.”

Kaizer Chiefs begin their 2021/2022 campaign against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 Sunday afternoon at 15:00.

They then face TS Galaxy a week later in their opening DStv Premiership match of the season at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

Kaizer Chiefs have made a number of new recruits ahead of the new season which include Keagan Dolly, Cole Alexander, Phathutshedzo Nange, Njabulo Ngcobo, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Njabulo Ngcobo, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Sifiso Hlanti, Brandon Peterson and Given Thibedi.
