Former Springbok skipper joins Sharks as lineout coach
Former Springbok and Lions captain Warren Whiteley has come full circle in rejoining the Sharks, this time as lineout coach.

The Durban-born, Glenwood High School-educated Whiteley started his professional career at the Sharks in 2008, before moving to Eastern Province in 2009 and then joining the Lions a year later.
Still only 33-years-old, Whiteley was forced to call time on his career in 2018 due to a series of injury setbacks, most notably to his knees.

Whiteley, the Springboks’ 58th all-time captain, played 23 Tests for his country between 2014 and 2018.
He started 18 of those Tests with five appearances off the substitutes’ bench, scoring three tries.

He made his international debut against Australia in Perth in 2014 and played his final Test against France in Paris in 2018.
