WATCH: Uh oh, oh, no, no! Fire breaks out at Beyonce’s mansion

Police are investigating a fire that broke out inside a mansion in New Orleans, reportedly owned by singer Beyonce and her husband Jay Z. According to the authorities, all indications are the blaze was no accident and the probe will be classified as possible arson.

The fire apparently erupted on Wednesday evening, 21 July 2021. New Orleans police officers are reported to have received a report of a suspicious person, just around the corner from Beyonce’s mansion.

Who set Beyonce’s house on fire?

According to several international media reports, the fire at Beyonce’s mansion appears to have started in the kitchen, where firefighters found books inside an oven. Suspicions of foul play in the blaze are further fuelled by the fact that authorities also found a gas can in the house.

“If they didn’t get there when they did, it could have been much worse,” a spokesperson for the New Orleans Fire Department told the New York Post.

“It’s a historic home.”

Some of Beyonce’s neighbours are cited as having that someone broke into the home shortly before the fire. One neighbour even said people are known to use an unlocked gate to come onto and leave the star’s property.

The home was owned by New Orleans ballet instructor Harvey Hysell, who forked out $100 000 to purchase it and turned into a ballet school. The school apparently operated until 2001, training a generation of New Orleans dancers. News owners then took over and renovated the building, turning it into a house boasting three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Beyonce then purchased the home for $2.6 million.
