Riots latest: WATCH policemen BUST allegedly with loot in cars

eThekwini Metro police have confirmed that they are investigating two policemen who allegedly stashed rioters’ loot in their vehicles in Durban on Tuesday.

Two separate videos of the policeman were circulated widely on social media on Tuesday. One of the officers in the video was wearing his metro police uniform, while the other officer was in plain clothes. He was literally speechless when community patrollers confronted him and questioned him about the alleged loot. They are heard in the video asking him to produce a till slip, which he was unable to do. He simply remained speechless and fortunately, unaggressive, during the confrontation.

Both officers were stopped by community patrollers during the evening and the alleged loot was recovered from their private motor vehicles:

eThekwini Metro police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad said that a full investigation had been launched into at least one allegations made in the two videos.

“We have identified this (sic) policemen who was allegedly found with looted items the in a private vehicle. We vowed to ensure a full investigation into this matter,” he said.
