The notion came before the CAF Champions League final in Morocco where a section of Egyptian football experts labelled Chiefs ‘too weak’ for Al Ahly.
However, El-Darandaly said there was no way Chiefs would reach the CAF Champions League final if they were as weak as some claimed.

Furthermore, El-Darandaly revealed how focused the entire Al Ahly team was on their way to Casablanca, saying even club president Mahmoud El-Khatib didn’t smile on the plane.
And El-Darandaly said Al Ahly couldn’t underestimate their CAF Champions League final opponents because both Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns always to do well against Mosimane.

“Mahmoud El-Khatib didn’t smile at all during our flight to Morocco. Everyone was fully focused,” said El-Darandaly as quoted by Kingfut.
“Saying that Kaizer Chiefs are weak is nonsense! The final could go anywhere. A team that is weak could never reach the final,” he continued.

Mosimane delivered Al Ahly’s 10th CAF Champions League trophy, which was his second in two consecutive seasons since joining the Red Devils.
