Kaizer Chiefs’ BIGGEST chance to sign one of PSL’s top free agent strikers!

Kaizer Chiefs‘ search for a top striker was boosted this week with one of their long targets set to become a free agent in July.

Amakhosi’s target from two years ago, Evans Rusike, recently received the bad news that his contract with SuperSport United will not be renewed.

This after struggling to rediscover the form that made him one of the most wanted strikers in the PSL a few years ago.

Rusike failed to score a single goal in 21 competitive matches for Matsatsantsa this past season. He could only manage two assists for the club.

However, this could be because he was mostly used as a winger than in his usual centre forward position by Kitano Tembo.

Now, this could be Chiefs’ biggest chance to lure Rusike to Naturena after failing to do so in 2019 when the Zimbabwe international was in red-hot form.

RUSIKE NOT FOR SALE – STANLEY MATTHEWS

In August 2019, SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews confirmed to IOL that Chiefs wanted to sign Rusike.

However, at the time, Matsatsantsa were not willing to sell any of their strikers, including Rusike, and, therefore, Chiefs had to look elsewhere.

“Yes, Chiefs wanted Rusike, but we turned them down. We are not looking to sell any of our forwards. We are looking to buy strikers,” said Matthews at the time.

KAMBOLE OUT, RUSIKE IN AT CHIEFS?

Chiefs could lose at least two of their strikers ahead of next season, but the player that looks certain to leave is none other than Lazarous Kambole.

Latest reports suggest that Tanzanian giants Young Africans are keen on Kambole so much so that they have already sent a delegation to negotatiate a deal for his services.

Samir Nurkovic is also reported to be a wanted man in Egypt among other countries, and Chiefs are reported to be interested in selling him for no less than R30 million.

Consequently, Rusike could be an option but that’s IF Chiefs still see him as someone who can hit the ground running and start scoring goals for them.
