Faf du Plessis confirms concussion and memory loss after fielding collision
Former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis has confirmed he suffered “concussion with some memory loss” after a heavy knock to the head during a fielding accident on Saturday.

Faf du Plessis, while fielding for his Quetta Gladiators Pakistan Super League (PSL) side against Peshawar Zalmi in Abu Dhabi, collided with team-mate Mohammad Hasnain’s knee while diving to stop a boundary in the seventh over of Peshawar Zalmi’s innings.
Du Plessis fell to the ground and lay prone, much to distress of those watching.

Du Plessis, who took no further part in the match, was seen sitting in the Quetta Gladiators dugout after the collision and the impact on his neck can be seen in the video below.
According to media reports he was taken to hospital post-match for further scans.
Zalmi won the match by 61 runs.
Faf du Plessis joined Quetta Gladiators for the 2021 PSL season which resumed in the United Arab Emirates on 9 June after being suspended due to positive Covid-19 tests in the bio-bubbles when the event kicked off in Pakistan in March.
On Sunday, Du Plessis took to Twitter to thank those who had reached out in support.
“Thank you everyone for all the messages of support,” Du Plessis wrote.
“I’m back at the hotel recovering. Have concussion with some memory loss but I will be fine. Hopefully be back on the field soon. Much love.”
