Cape Town City trigger ‘option to renew’ on Tashreeq Morris’ contract

Cape Town City have announced the contract extension of striker Tashreeq Morris after taking up the option to renew it.

Morris’ previous deal was set to expire on 30 June, and the Citizens felt his services were still needed beyond that.

In a statement released on Tuesday, City said the new contract will keep Morris at the Mother City-based side until June 2022.

Morris had been with City since his arrival from Ajax Cape Town in July 2019.

And while he hasn’t been a regular goalscorer for the Citizens despite being a striker, Morris’ contribution, so far, appears to have impressed his employers.

He netted seven goals and provided four assists in 26 matches across all competitions this past season.

Overall, Morris has eight goals and four assists to his name in 38 competitive matches for City.
