Temba Bavuma ready to build an innings on and off the field as Proteas captain

Bavuma will be leading the Proteas ODI and T20 sides and aims to build unity in diversity in the side.

Our captain was raised in Langa in Cape Town. He attended school at South African College Schools (SACS) in Newlands and St David’s in Johannesburg.

This means he has experienced diverse ‘worlds’. This will give him the experience needed to deal with the current diverse Proteas squad.

I find myself being able to relate to our black and our white brothers” stated Bavuma.

” I think sport, as much as we love it, there are a lot of things that can be hard to get your mind around as a player” says Bavuma.

He believes he can use his experience growing up and within the side to overcome these challenges. Bavuma is one of the most experienced members in the current side with 117 ODI and 83 T20 caps to date.

The all rounder wants to build an innings both off and on the field. Building partnerships in the match but also with his team mates.

Bavuma wants to unify the squad and turn the team into a brotherhood that celebrates their diversity.

The T20 and ODI captain wants to build this side into the world-beaters they once were and to be at the forefront of building a side capable of finally winning a Cricket World Cup.

Having become the latest high-profile sportsman to sign for Roc Nation.

Once he has united his squad, Bavuma has three clear goals.

Win the 2021 2020 World Cup, win the 2022 T20 World Cup and win the 2023 World Cup!” Bavuma exclaimed.

Bavuma aims to follow in Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi’s footsteps. By leading the Proteas and South Africa to winning the 2021 T20 World Cup later this year.
