Sundowns co-coaches head PSL Coach of the Season award list BUT…

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coaches have been nominated for the Coach of the Season award by the PSL following their team’s dominance in the league this season.

However, Steve Komphela will NOT ascend to the podium to accept the award despite being a ‘senior coach’ at the Brazilians.

Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena are the two co-coaches that have been recognized for the team’s superb campaign.

Under both Mngqithi and Mokwena, Sundowns find themselves in pole position to defend their league title – which will be a record fourth in a row.

AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has also cracked the nod following what has been an impressive season by the Durban-based outfit under his watchful eye.

McCarthy arrived at Usuthu six games into the season with the team sitting on seven points, and he collected a whopping 43 points to take them to a record 50 for the club.

Lastly, Golden Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi is also in the mix for his efforts in turning the Lamontville-based side into a competitive team this season.

As things stand, Arrows are third on the PSL standings, and if they finish no below than that then they will qualify for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
