Sikhumbuzo Notshe set to miss British & Irish Lions tour

One of the new found stars of SA rugby is set to miss out on the series he has worked so hard to be a part of all his life.

Sharks loose forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe is excepted to miss the British & Irish Lions series.

This is after the injury he sustained in the first half against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld this past weekend.

He was in clear discomfort which had Springbok fans nervously awaiting the medical diagnosis.

The Sharks confirmed in a statement that he had ruptured a patella tendon and that recovery will take up to a few months.

That leaves Notshe in a race against time to achieve his and every Springbok player’s dream of playing against the British & Irish Lions.

Notshe has been in excellent form since signing for the Sharks from the Stormers. It is in KwaZulu-Natal that he has started to show his potential to the rugby world.

An explosive runner, elusive while carrying the ball in hand, he is agile, fleet-footed and fast for a forward.

Prior to his injury he was all but assured a spot In the Springbok squad spot given his scintillating form for the better part of a year.

The 29-year-old has been in great form and was influential during the Sharks’ 2020 table-topping Super Rugby campaign before having an influential season inspiring his side to the final of the 2020 Currie Cup.

We hope too see him back on the field in time to achieve his dream and compete for the green and gold.
