KOLBE – INJURY UPDATE

The Springbok camp was given a massive scare when Kolbe limped off the field after twisting his ankle. Kolbe was entangled in a tackle near the sideline. His ankle twisted uncomfortably under the weight of the pressure. Kolbe looked to be in a lot of pain too.

The team doctor then forced him to leave the field of play.

Jacques Nienaber would have watched anxiously as the star was forced off the field. Kolbe is a vital part of Nienaber’s Bok setup since he is a game-breaker and one of the best players in the world. Kolbe is scintillating on attack and astute defensively.

Given half the chance he can flip the game into his side’s favour.

KOLBE’S CLASS SHOWN

Not only did the star return to the field of play but he went on to influence proceedings with two moments of pure magic.

First Kolbe made a try-saving tackle, chasing down Clermont wing Peter Betham after an interception. A remarkable 60m chase where Kolbe then got to his feet and turned the ball over after a lighting-fast chase. Saving a seemingly certain seven-pointer.

The Brilliance didn’t end there with Kolbe utilizing his trademark stepping ability to break through the Clermont defense.

He then showcased amazing athleticism to keep the ball alive with a basketball-pass. The move ended in a try that was led by Kolbe’s break.

Kolbe will be a vital part of the Springbok camp when they take on the British & Irish Lions.
