Al Ahly have a WOEFUL record in South Africa stats show!

Mamelodi Sundowns have nothing to worry about in Saturday’s CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg against Al Ahly – if the Egyptian side’s record to date in South Africa is anything to go by.

In 11 previous matches in the country, Al Ahly have never won!

Of course, they have also never been coached by Pitso Mosimane against his compatriots and Al Ahly don’t actually have to win – or even draw – the match to progress to the semi-finals.

In those 11 clashes, Al Ahly have lost four and drawn seven.

They have played no fewer than six different South African sides and crucially have met Mamelodi Sundowns on four previous occasions.

Al Ahly will arrive in South Africa in the coming days holding a two-goal advantage after the first leg which they won 2-0 last weekend.

Kick-off at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, 22 May is at 15:00.
