Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 severe thunderstorms are expected over the southern parts of Kwazulu-Natal in the afternoon with heavy downpours, strong damaging winds, severe lightning and localized flooding.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger is expected over the !Kheis, Siyathemba and Kareeberg local municipalities in the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east in the morning with fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Hot in the Western Bushveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the central and southeastern parts in the morning.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cool along the coast and southern interior where it will be fine, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly moderating south of Hondeklip Bay by the evening.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm in the west, otherwise mostly cloudy with rain along the south coast and adjacent interior from mid-morning.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly along the west and south-west coast, otherwise moderate south-westerly to southerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Partly cloudy at first, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain but scattered in places along the coastal regions.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly, becoming moderate to fresh east of Cape St Francis in the late morning.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and rain south of the escarpment but scattered in places along the coastal regions. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the north during the afternoon.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly, becoming fresh to strong in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy at first with morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become cloudy from the south in the evening with scattered showers and thundershowers in the south, otherwise isolated except in the extreme north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly from the south in the afternoon, spreading northwards.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
