‘Sorry you see me that way’ – secret clip of Ramaphosa, Zuma chat leaked

A two-minute audio clip has been made public on social media on Friday, allegedly revealing what went off behind closed doors at the ANC Top 6 meeting last weekend. The secret exchange between Cyril Ramaphosa and Jacob Zuma – who have been at loggerheads for the last few years – has turned heads across the country.

Secret recording catches Cyril Ramaphosa’s showdown with Jacob Zuma

Although the voice-note is a little too short to feature Zuma’s response, it’s a very revealing portrait of how Ramaphosa is currently trying to quell his critics. The president remains calm throughout, discussing the bad blood between the pair. Cyril informs uBaba that there is no ‘personal prejudice’ against him, and apologised for the soured relations.

Ramaphosa went on to tell his predecessor that he ‘did not want him to resign early’ back in 2018 – even though that meant CR would become president. According to the ANC leader, he was outnumbered by senior party comrades, who decided that Msholozi must go the same way as Thabo Mbeki, by leaving the role before his term expired.

Ramaphosa vs Zuma audio clip – what was said?

Here’s what Cyril said on tape:

“In your mind, it’s possible that you’d think Cyril Ramaphosa is always against you, and wants you to go to jail. That’s perhaps your view, but I want to say that’s never been my orientation. I see you as my leader, and as my elder in the ANC.

“I would say there’s another leader who never had a supportive disposition to me, but I never wanted to see him leave that way: That’s comrade Thabo (Mbeki). He should not have been taken out of the position, neither should you, but we lost the argument. There were contrary voices that were overwhelmed. That’s what happened in your case.

“I’m sorry that you see me as deceitful and untrustworthy. I am sorry that you see me that way.”
