Fox News links Prince Philip’s death to Meghan Markle

The 99-year-old Prince Philip passed away on Friday, 9 April 2021. According to sources, Prince Phillip died peacefully at home in Windsor. That said, it didn’t take all that much for critics (and Fox News) to link his death to Meghan Markle.

Following the announcement of his death, Fox & Friends found a way to link Prince Phillip’s passing to Meghan Markle and Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year.

“Evidently, it [Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview] definitely added to his stress.”

Fallout after Prince Philip’s deaths

‘Fox & Friends’ versus Meghan Markle

Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade linked Meghan Markle’s “damning interview” with Oprah Winfrey to the Duke’s death, who was in hospital for heart surgery and treatment for infection at the time.

Meghan claimed that an unnamed member of the royal family expressed concern over how dark baby Archie’s might be, given Meghan’s heritage.

Now, according to Kilmeade, Prince Phillip was “enraged after the interview and the fallout from the interview with Oprah Winfrey, so here he is trying to recover and he’s hit with that”.

Kilmeade also mentioned Piers Morgan, who had to resign from his Good Morning Britain show after criticising Meghan and Prince Harry on air, and is his Daily Mail column.

“Piers Morgan was saying on his morning show, which he famously walked off of, is like ‘Really?’ ‘Your grandfather is in the hospital, you know he’s not doing well, is this really the time you have to put out this interview?'”

Of course, Twitter had a field day, sharing memes of how Piers Morgan would link Meghan to Prince Philip’s death as well.

The search terms ‘Meghan Markle’ and ‘Piers Morgan’ trended on the social media platform, with more than 600 000 South African tweets added to the conversation.
