Recipe: Beef Burgers with a Hidden Cheesy Centre

Burgers are so versatile, you can add any combination you like to make a lip-smackingly delicious burger. From mushroom sauce to pineapple the options are endless.

For this recipe, however, it calls for cheese but with a twist. These beef burgers have a hidden cheese centre that will leave you wanting more.

    Take burger night to the next level with this stuffed burger recipe.

    Ingredients

    • 800 grams beef mince

    • 2 teaspoon garlic

    • 4 sprigs of thyme, chopped

    • 1 egg, whisked

    • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

    • 15 ml barbecue spice

    • pinch of salt and pepper

    Method

    • In a bowl add the mince, garlic, thyme, egg, barbecue spice and salt and pepper and mix until combined.
    • Divide the mince into 16 equal portions and roll into balls.
    • Flatten the mince with the palm of your hand and layout 8 pieces of mince on a plate. Divide the cheese equally and place in the centre of mince patties.
    • Cover the mince patties with the other 8 patties until all the cheese is covered.
    • Leave the burger patties to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
    • Shallow fry the burgers in hot oil for four minutes on each side until cooked and golden.
    • Serve the patties on burger buns or if you want a low-carb meal, add the patties to a salad.
