CONFIRMED: Ex-Chiefs man not in Benni McCarthy’s plans at AmaZulu

AmaZulu boss Sandile Zungu has confirmed that former Kaizer Chiefs man Mario Booysen is not in Benni McCarthy’s immediate plans at the club.

Booysen’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks as reports that he could be on his way out at the Durban-based outfit surfaced.

But with Zungu confirming the news, the well-travelled defender should start looking for a new home ahead of the next season.

“Mario Booysen is definitely not in the plans of coach Benni,” Zungu told Daily Sun.

Zungu, however, couldn’t deny or confirm if Booysen has already been released by AmaZulu.

Booysen though has been informed that he doesn’t form part of Benni McCarthy’s plans for the future.

“What I cannot answer is whether he’s still in our books or not, but we agreed with him that he’s not in the plans of the coach,” added Zungu.

Booysen has been with AmaZulu since October 2019 following a brief spell with Kaizer Chiefs.

The 33-year-old has also played for Mamelodi Sundowns, Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United in the PSL.

Booysen featured just once for Usuthu under Benni McCarthy’s tutelage – and this was in January when he scored an own goal against former club SuperSport United.
