Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over western and central Free State, northeastern parts of the Northern Cape, North West, and in places over Limpopo.

Special weather advisories

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga until Sunday, but over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Free State and Northwest until Monday.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces

Gauteng: Fine and hot to very hot in the north

UVB sunburn index: Very high

Mpumalanga: Morning fog along the southern escarpment, otherwise fine and warm but hot in the Lowveld. .

Limpopo: Fine and very hot, but hot in the Central part and Escarpment.

North-West Province: Partly cloudy and very hot with isolated thunderstorms in the west. It will be fine in the east.

Free State: Fog patches in the extreme northeast at first, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated thunderstorms over western and central parts

Northern Cape: Fine and very hot to extremely hot in the west. Morning fog along the coast where it will be warm to hot with light and moderate southerly wind.

Western Cape: Cloudy along the coastal areas with morning fog in the west becoming fine and warm to hot otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in places over the eastern interior, where heat wave conditions continuing into Friday. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and hot, but very hot in places over the interior. It will become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon thunderstorms north of Darlington Dam. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south westerly in the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and hot. It will become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon thunderstorms, but scattered north of Queenstown. The wind along the coast will be Fresh north easterly becoming fresh south westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine and hot but very hot in the north-east. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north-easterly becoming south-westerly south of Richards bay in the evening.
