Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 2 Warning for disruptive rain, which may result in localized flooding of susceptible roads, low lying areas and bridges, and difficult driving conditions, is expected over the north-eastern parts of the Free State, the south-eastern parts of Gauteng, the south-western parts of Mpumalanga, as well as the northern parts of KZN.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the south-east.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Warm in the Lowveld, otherwise cloudy and cool, with isolated to scattered showers and rain, but widespread in the south-west.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain, except in the Lowveld and the Limpopo Valley.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the north-east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cool along the coast where it will be cloudy at first with morning fog, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming cloudy to partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light southerly to south-westerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy along the south coast and eastern interior in the morning with fog along the west coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become cloudy to partly cloudy along the west coast in the evening.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light westerly to north-westerly along the west coast, otherwise fresh to strong easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Cool with isolated showers and rain in places along the coast, otherwise cloudy and warm becoming fine by the afternoon, but partly cloudy in the north with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Morning mist in places south of the escarpment, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the north-east.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the north-west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable at first, otherwise moderate northerly to north-easterly, but easterly to south-easterly north
of Richards Bay.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
