Stellenbosch FC forward Leletu Skelem believes the team’s change of tactics has negatively impacted his form this campaign.

The 22-year-old was one of Stellies’ standout players last season, when he scored three goals in the league and made two assists, but now he appears to be struggling to rediscover his best form.

Leletu Skelem explained that coach Steve Barker has made some tactical adjustments in order to get the most out of his new signings this term, and the changes haven’t played to his own strengths as a player.

“I have to train more because it is not like I’m not doing that much more or not getting the training sessions,” Leletu Skelem told Soccer Laduma.

“But all I can say is that I think it’s the change of tactics from the team. We try to have those combinations with the new players because I think they are also the ones that came with a different style to how we were playing last season and you can see that this season we are more on the ball and stuff.

“Last season, we were using our strength, so now we are trying to adapt to other people’s strength. So, ja, I think that is the main thing that we have been trying to work on.”
