Bongi Mbonambi keeps WP sweating, delays decision on new contract

Springbok and WP hooker Bongi Mbonambi is a man in demand. High demand it seems.

The 30-year-old is reportedly a target of both the Sharks and Bulls as well as a number of overseas clubs.

And in a decision that won’t put WP fans at ease, despite an attractive contract-extension offer, Mbonambi has decided to wait until after the British & Irish Lions tour in August before making his decision.

According to the Netwerk24 website, Bongi Mbonambi’s agent Gert Andries van der Merwe said the 2019 Rugby World Cup winner is in no rush to make any career decision.

‘Bongi will wait until after the Rainbow Cup competition and the series against the British & Irish Lions before he makes a final decision,’ Van der Merwe said.

Mbonambi has played 36 Tests for the Springboks to date.
