Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow (Level 4) Warning: Heavy rainfall is expected over the Western Bushveld of Limpopo, Gauteng, central and eastern parts of the North-West, north-eastern parts of Free State, south-western Highveld of Mpumalanga as well as the western and north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, leading to flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), possible damage to roads and bridges, communities not accessible.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Khai-Ma and Hantam municipalities and western parts of Pixlley Ka Seme Municipalities in the Northern Cape as well as the eastern parts of the West Coast District and extreme northern parts Cape Winelands in the Western Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment where it will be cold, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment where it will be cold, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the west.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog patches along the coast where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become partly cloudy in the east from the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light northerly to north-westerly in the morning, otherwise fresh southerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the north-east, otherwise fine and hot to very hot but warm along the south and the south-west coast.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong easterly to north-easterly along the south coast, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Cloudy over the interior in the early morning, otherwise fine and warm, but hot in places.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Partly cloudy and warm in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated light rain in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in places in the north.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly, reaching near gale force from the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the extreme south.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, becoming moderate north-easterly in the south from the afternoon spreading northwards.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
